We list what we've confirmed. If a casino isn't here, we haven't found its program yet. That doesn't mean it has none.

Before you count on it. Three unresolved conflicts sit in OLG's own published documents. One: the program page lists an online application at forms.dc.gov/f/SelfExclusion while OLG's own FAQ, and the first page of that online form, say the application must be completed and signed in person. Two: the codified regulation describes removal by petition plus an in-person removal session, and OLG's FY2024 Responsible Gambling Plan instead requires an affidavit from a licensed mental health professional who is a certified gambling addiction counselor. Three: the paper application says your Social Security number is not required while its field carries the required-field asterisk, and the online form will not let you skip it. Nobody has marked any of these documents superseded. The (202) 788-2102 line arranges an appointment and does not enroll you. Your term running out does not take you off the list — you stay on it until an approved petition removes you, and you can increase the duration but never decrease it. This one list covers the DC Lottery and sports wagering, and you cannot exclude from lottery only or sports wagering only. No OLG page says whether it also reaches bingo, raffles or game of skill machines. Whether someone living outside the District may enroll is not established. No processing time and no enrollment confirmation are published.

How we checked

These are the kinds of gambling we checked. The list may not include every way to gamble in DC.

The District of Columbia is regulated separately from any state, by its own Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG). OLG runs one self-exclusion program that covers DC Lottery retail sales, iLottery, and retail and online/mobile sports wagering together. You cannot limit it to one type of gambling. The District's gaming law that we read names no casino, racing or fantasy-sports license category, though that is a finding across the sections we read and not an official statement that none exists. OLG also licenses charitable gaming and game of skill machines, and we don't know whether the program reaches them. On paper you can enroll online at forms.dc.gov/f/SelfExclusion, in person at OLG headquarters, or in person at any licensed Class A or B facility. The phone line, (202) 788-2102, only arranges an appointment for one of the in-person routes and doesn't complete enrollment. OLG's own Self-Exclusion FAQ and page 1 of the online form say the application must be submitted in person, so we don't know whether the online route works. Expect to be asked for your Social Security number. The paper application's cover says it isn't required, but its field is marked required, OLG's FAQ and online instructions say it's collected, and the online form requires it. Terms are 1 year, 18 months, 3 years, 5 years or lifetime, and you can choose lifetime only after at least 6 months on the list. A term ending does not remove you automatically. Two official documents disagree on how to come off the list. The regulation describes a petition after your term ends plus an in-person session. OLG's FY2024 Responsible Gambling Plan instead requires an affidavit from a licensed mental health professional who is a certified gambling addiction counselor. Neither is marked as replaced. DC also keeps a separate Involuntary Exclusion List for integrity reasons, which you can't use to exclude yourself. We checked tribal casinos, online casino, fantasy sports, racing, game of skill machines and charitable gaming (bingo, raffles, Monte Carlo Night parties) against DC law and OLG's site, and none has a named self-exclusion mechanism. We checked the official sources linked on this page, not every gambling option in the District.

How the District of Columbia's programs fit together

One sign-up with the District's Office of Lottery and Gaming covers its lottery and sports wagering together, and you can't choose just one.

What we know about each one

OLG runs one program and one list, so you can't enroll against sports wagering only or lottery only. We found no program for tribal casinos, online casinos, fantasy sports or racing. No source says whether the list reaches charitable gaming or game of skill machines, which OLG also licenses.
