Georgia: your online Georgia Lottery account only

State regulator Run by Georgia Lottery Corporation.

A switch inside your own logged-in Georgia Lottery iHOPE account. For the period you choose it closes online play and the mobile app, stops deposits and withdrawals, stops you buying any Georgia Lottery game or product through the account, bars you from Georgia Lottery second-chance promotions and forfeits any entries you have already accumulated for one, and stops Georgia Lottery promotional email. It does not stop you buying tickets at a store, and it does not reach the Class A/B coin-operated amusement machines the same Corporation licenses. You enroll by signing in, opening the Self Exclusion page, picking a duration and clicking Proceed. You can also ask by phone: the Lottery's own pages say to call the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259). There is no form, and no mail or email route is published.

Reviewed 2026-10-01 against official sources. Every fact below links to the page it came from. How we check facts.

What it blocks

Pauses the individual's online iHOPE account: no access to online play, the mobile app, or promotional emails, for a selected duration. It reaches only the Georgia Lottery Corporation's own online/mobile product (online draw games, digital instant 'Diggi' games, and the mobile app); it does not reach retail ticket purchases at a store. The Program Terms say so directly: "the playing of GLC games at retailer locations is beyond the GLC's control and beyond the scope of the GLC Voluntary Self Exclusion Program." The Georgia Lottery Corporation also administers Class A/B Coin Operated Amusement Machines (COAM); this program does not mention or reach COAM.

Self-exclusion programs do not all block the same things. Here is what the official rules say about each one.

What Georgia: your online Georgia Lottery account only blocks
What it could stopAnswerWhat the source says
Entering the propertySource says noThe program does not bar anyone from retail lottery play. Program Terms: "you will not seek to hold GLC liable in any way should you continue to play GLC games at any retailer in the State of Georgia despite your Self-Exclusion Request... the playing of GLC games at retailer locations is beyond the GLC's control and beyond the scope of the GLC Voluntary Self Exclusion Program." The program is account-based and has no premises entry rule.
Betting and winningsConfirmedThe account cannot withdraw or deposit funds, or buy any Georgia Lottery game or product through the account.
Credit, check cashing and rewardsConfirmedThe individual may not withdraw or deposit funds or buy any Georgia Lottery game or product through the iHOPE account, may not enter any Georgia Lottery Corporation second-chance promotion and forfeits any entries already accumulated for one, and "will not be able to apply for a new account." The Program Terms add that "any funds remaining in your iHOPE Account may be forfeited", that you should minimize the balance first, and that "the GLC will refund any balance in the iHOPE Account by check as soon as feasible"; the two statements sit side by side in the same document, so what happens to a balance is not settled.
Online playConfirmedThe iHOPE account and mobile app both become inaccessible for the chosen duration.
Marketing and mailingsConfirmedGeorgia Lottery promotional emails stop. The page notes the individual must separately unfollow the Corporation on any social media platform themselves: "The GLC is unable to do this for you."

How to enroll, how long it lasts, and the sources

Terms you can choose

Not verified: Official sources disagree about which periods exist. The enrollment page's dropdown offers 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years and 10 years, and the Play Responsibly overview lists the same six. The Program Terms PDF says "3 months, 6 months, 9 months, or one year", and the Reinstatement policy says the period "can be 3, 6, 9, or 12 months". The dropdown's "1 year" and "2 years" options both carry the value 12, and the page's code turns that value into an end date 12 months out, so picking "2 years" submits one year (read 2026-10-01). What the Corporation's server stores after the request arrives was not observed.

When it ends

This continues until you request removal.

Your account does not come back on its own when the period ends. It stays suspended until you ask. Reinstatement takes a call to the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259). The Corporation says it "will exercise due diligence in evaluating your request" and starts reinstatement "upon a satisfactory evaluation", which it expects to take about 10 business days. So reinstatement is not automatic, and the Corporation does not publish what it looks for. No self-service reinstatement is described. During the term the Corporation states the process cannot be reversed for any reason.

How to enroll

Open Self Exclusion in your Georgia Lottery account.

The switch lives inside your own logged-in iHOPE account, so you need an account you already hold to use it. Pick a duration and click Proceed. Opening the page does not exclude you; submitting the choice does. The Corporation does not say how quickly it takes effect. When the request goes through, the page tells you "You are now self-excluded." and logs you out. No email receipt is described, so try signing in afterwards to check. We cannot do this for you.

  1. Sign in to your Georgia Lottery iHOPE account and open the Self Exclusion page under My Account. There is no form to download. The Lottery's pages also say you can request self-exclusion by calling the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259). They do not say which periods a phone request offers or how fast it takes effect.
  2. Pick a duration from the dropdown. It lists 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years and 10 years, although the Lottery's Program Terms PDF names only 3, 6 and 9 months and one year. Read the caution on the 2-year option before you choose.
  3. Before you click Proceed, minimize the balance in the account. The Program Terms make that your job and say funds left in it "may be forfeited", although the same document says the Lottery refunds a balance by check. Then click Proceed, and Proceed again in the confirmation dialog. The Corporation states the process cannot be reversed for any reason during the term.
  4. Once it takes hold, the account and the mobile app become inaccessible, you cannot deposit, withdraw or buy any Georgia Lottery product through the account, you cannot apply for a new account, and promotional email stops. The Corporation publishes no timing. A dialog reading "You are now self-excluded." appears when the request goes through, and no email receipt is described. You have to unfollow the Georgia Lottery on social media yourself — the page says "The GLC is unable to do this for you."
  5. When the period ends your account is not restored on its own. Call the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259) to request reinstatement. The Corporation evaluates the request and starts reinstatement only "upon a satisfactory evaluation", which it expects to take about 10 business days. It does not publish what it looks for. Until you ask, the account stays suspended.

Before you count on it. The duration dropdown on the Corporation's own site has a defect, confirmed on 2026-10-01 by reading the page and its code: the "1 year" and "2 years" options carry the identical value of 12, and the page's code turns that value into an end date 12 months out. Picking "2 years" submits one year, while the confirmation dialog still says 2 years. If you want more than one year, the next option on the menu is 5 years. You can call the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259) with questions about the term you chose. This reaches your online account and the mobile app. Lottery tickets sold in stores stay available to you, and so do Class A/B coin-operated amusement machines, which the same Corporation licenses and which its COAM pages describe no self-exclusion mechanism for. The Georgia Secretary of State says gambling other than the lottery, raffles and charity bingo is prohibited in Georgia, and we found no casino, sports-betting or racing regulator, so no other state list was found to join. The Secretary of State regulates charity bingo, and the bingo rules have no self-exclusion. You need an iHOPE account you already hold; no residency rule is published, and whether someone outside Georgia can use this is unresolved. Nothing is published about how quickly it takes effect. The only confirmation is the on-screen dialog, and no receipt is described. You also cannot apply for a new Georgia Lottery account while it runs. It does not lift on its own when the period ends. Reinstatement takes a phone call and a satisfactory evaluation by the Corporation, so it is not automatic. Opening the Self Exclusion page does not exclude you; only submitting the choice does.

Every route we checked

Routes that enroll you

  • Online — https://www.galottery.com/en-us/myaccount/self-exclusion.html (self-service toggle inside a logged-in iHOPE account)
"I would like to self-exclude myself for: [dropdown] ... Proceed." Submitting sends the request. The page then reports "You are now self-excluded." and logs you out.
  • By phone — 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259), Player Information Hotline
Two Lottery pages describe a phone route. Play Responsibly: "To request self-exclusion, please call the Player Information Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259)." Player FAQs: "Georgia Lottery players can choose to exclude themselves from online play by calling the Player Information Hotline... After processing the player's request, the Georgia Lottery will no longer permit online purchases." The Program Terms PDF describes only the online profile route. No source says which periods a phone request can choose, how identity is checked on the call, or how fast it takes effect.

Routes that get you a form or an answer, not an exclusion

  • By phone — 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259), Player Information Hotline
Used to request reinstatement after the exclusion period ends (Program Terms: "To request reinstatement, you must call the Player Information Hotline") and for general questions ("Questions? Call the Player Information Hotline").

Requirements and sources

Sources read 2026-10-01. These are the program's requirements, not a record of anyone's enrollment.

Terms available
Can a resident enroll
Not verified: Enrollment is a self-service toggle inside an existing, already-registered iHOPE online account. No residency rule is published, and practical eligibility is limited to whoever already holds such an account.
Can a visitor enroll
Not verified: Same as residents: not addressed beyond requiring an existing account.
Identification
Not verified: No identification submission is described beyond being logged into an existing account.
Notarization
Not verified: Not addressed; the mechanism is a self-service web toggle rather than a signed paper document, but no source affirmatively states notarization is not required.
Witnesses
Not verified: Not addressed.
Notarizing online
Not verified: No notarization requirement is established for this self-service account action, so remote online notarization does not arise. No source addresses it either way.
How long processing takes
Not verified: No timing is published for enrollment. The Program Terms say only: "The GLC will process your Self-Exclusion Request to make it effective as soon as feasible." The page describes the state during the term — "During this time, you will not be able to access your iHOPE Account or play online or on the mobile app" — and says GLC "cannot reverse the process for any reason," but publishes no timing. The source does not say it takes effect immediately.
How you are told it took effect
On screen only. When the request succeeds, the page opens a dialog that reads "You are now self-excluded." and "You will be logged out from your account now. Thank you for taking a Play Break!", then logs you out. No emailed receipt or letter is described anywhere. Nothing is said about confirming a phone request.

The form asks for: an existing, logged-in iHOPE online account session, a selected exclusion duration from a dropdown menu.
