MicroBilt — consumer-report freeze

Consumer report freeze Run by MicroBilt.

MicroBilt will freeze the consumer reports it keeps on you, so it can't release them without your authorization. Call 888-222-7621, or mail its signed form by certified mail with copies of your ID and a recent bill. There's no fee. The freeze covers only MicroBilt's own reports, not other credit bureaus.

Reviewed 2026-10-08 against official sources. Every fact below links to the page it came from. How we check facts.

What it blocks

MicroBilt publishes a Utah-specific "Notification of Rights for Utah Consumers, Security Freeze Process". A freeze "will prohibit us from releasing any information in their credit reports without their express authorization", with exceptions for existing accounts and collection agencies, and prescreening under the FCRA still applies. Its consumer-affairs page states the same right with no state test, and bounds it: a freeze here "will apply only to reports that are created and maintained by MicroBilt". It reaches no other bureau.

Self-exclusion programs do not all block the same things. Here is what the official rules say about each one.

How to enroll, how long it lasts, and the sources

Terms you can choose

"There is no fee with MicroBilt for placing a security freeze". The notice gives no end date; the freeze stays until lifted with the PIN. Temporary removal: call 1-888-222-7621 and "provide your identification information and PIN", or, for one specific party, "provide your PIN to the party you wish to grant access to your report." Permanent removal: "call 1-888-222-7621. You also may write to us and provide your identification information and PIN"; a written request must "always include a copy of your personal identification information and proof of your address." The notice offers writing only for permanent removal. No fee for either, and the consumer-affairs page repeats it: "You will not be charged a fee for this process."

When it ends

A fixed term continues until you request removal; whether a permanent term exists, and what would govern it, is not established.

A fixed term. A freeze has no end date. It stays until you lift it: call 1-888-222-7621 with your identification and PIN, or write with your PIN, a copy of your ID and proof of address. There is no fee.

A lifetime term. Not verified: The notice offers no term options; a freeze simply stays until you lift it.

How to enroll

  • By phone — 888-222-7621
MicroBilt's consumer-affairs page takes a freeze request by phone: return the signed form by mail "or call us toll-free at the below number". The numbers are 888-222-7621 and 800-884-4747 option #5, Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM ET. There is no fee. MicroBilt sends written confirmation, with a PIN where it holds a report on you. The Utah notice names 888-222-7621 only for lifting a freeze; this page is what establishes the call as a way to place one. Neither source says what a caller is asked for.
  • By mail — MicroBilt, Attn: Consumer Affairs Department, P.O. Box 440693, Kennesaw, GA 30160
The mailed alternative. Sign MicroBilt's own Security Freeze / Fraud Alert / Active Duty Alert form, or write the same information out, and send it by certified mail, as the Utah notice asks, with your full name and generation, Social Security number, date of birth, addresses for the past two years, one copy of a government ID and one copy of a recent utility bill, bank or insurance statement. Send copies; MicroBilt does not return mail. This plan prints no letter for MicroBilt: a printed letter cannot carry those documents.

Requirements and sources

Terms available
"There is no fee with MicroBilt for placing a security freeze". The notice gives no end date; the freeze stays until lifted with the PIN. Temporary removal: call 1-888-222-7621 and "provide your identification information and PIN", or, for one specific party, "provide your PIN to the party you wish to grant access to your report." The notice offers writing only for permanent removal. No fee for either, and the consumer-affairs page repeats it: "You will not be charged a fee for this process."
Can a resident enroll
Not verified: The notice is the Utah version and states no residency test. A protected consumer (under 16, incapacitated, or with a guardian or conservator) can be frozen by a representative with extra documents.
Can a visitor enroll
Not verified: Visitor eligibility was not established from an official source.
Identification
MicroBilt's Utah notice asks for your full name with middle initial and generation, Social Security number, date of birth, and current and previous addresses for the past two years. Enclose one copy of a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license or state ID, and one copy of a utility bill, bank or insurance statement. Each copy must be legible and show your name, current mailing address and date of issue, and the statement must be recent. Credit card statements, voided checks, lease agreements, magazine subscriptions and postal forwarding orders are not accepted as proof. MicroBilt does not return mail, so send copies. The published form asks for the same, as a checkbox: a driver's license copy, or two other forms of ID. That is the mailed route. No source says what you are asked for on the phone.
Notarization
Not verified: the Utah notice does not mention notarization for a consumer's own request; it asks for copies of identification and proof of address. It mentions a notarized written statement only for a representative of a protected consumer.
Witnesses
Not verified: the Utah notice does not mention witnesses.
Notarizing online
Not verified: no notarization is requested for the consumer's own freeze, so remote online notarization does not arise; the notice does not address it.
How long processing takes
Not verified: the Utah notice gives no processing window for a freeze.
How you are told it took effect
"We will send you a confirmation notice once the security freeze has been added, and you will be given a personal identification number (PIN)" needed to lift it. Where MicroBilt holds no report on you it records the freeze anyway and sends written confirmation with no PIN. Neither source says how long that takes.

The form asks for: first, middle and last name, generation (JR, SR, III), maiden name, driver's license number and state, ID attachment box (driver's license, or two other forms of ID), Social Security number, date of birth, current address, two previous addresses from the past two years, request type (Security Freeze), signature, date.
