What it blocks

Self-exclusion programs do not all block the same things. Here is what the official rules say about each one.

How to enroll, how long it lasts, and the sources

Terms you can choose

Five years. Removal is automatic at the end of the period unless the person asks to remain for a further five years, and the Commission is not authorized to remove anyone before the five years elapse. Renewal may be requested in the final three months and repeated as often as elected.

When it ends

This ends on its own at the end of the term.

Removal is automatic at the end of the five-year period, and the Commission is not authorized to remove anyone sooner. Staying on the list takes a request in the final three months, repeatable for further five-year terms.

How to enroll

Apply online and choose the Sports Wagering list.

Same portal as the casino list. Select the Sports Wagering Self-Excluded Persons List at login. You upload a copy of your ID, a photo and a photo of you holding your ID. Under the rule you are placed when the application is executed, but sportsbooks refresh the list on a cycle, so enforcement can lag by about ten days.

  1. Go to the portal and choose the Sports Wagering Self-Excluded Persons List at login. There is no paper form for this list. We don't submit it.
  2. Have ready a copy of your federal or state ID, a photo of yourself and a photo of you holding that ID. On this portal a casino-list application is deleted if uploads are not made within 7 days; do not assume the sports list gives you longer.
  3. Complete the fields: name and all aliases, physical description, home address, mobile number, every email address you use, date of birth, and the acknowledgement and release. The portal requires you to be 21.
  4. If you also want the casino list, return to the login screen and complete that application separately. One does not cover the other.
  5. Notice of placement comes by mail or by appointment. Operators must download the list at least every seven days and update within three, so it can take about ten days before every sportsbook has your name.

Before you count on it. Five-year term with automatic removal at the end; the Commission cannot take you off sooner. To stay listed, ask in the final three months, and you can renew for further five-year terms as often as you choose. Whether you can join this list in person at a Commission office is not published. Whether non-residents may apply, and how long processing takes, are not verified. Submitting does not mean every sportsbook has your name yet.
