Gambling self-exclusion in Vermont
Self-exclusion in Vermont: one of the two programs on record can enroll you. Vermont: mobile sports wagering (statewide list), run by the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery. First step: Open Vermont's self-exclusion registration portal. A fixed term ends on its own at the end of the term; a lifetime term has no published way to lift it. We hold no published route into the other one; it is named below with what it covers. None substitutes for another, and this is not everything in Vermont.

We list what we've confirmed. If a casino isn't here, we haven't found its program yet. That doesn't mean it has none.

Before you count on it. This list covers mobile sports wagering. Vermont's statutes bar commercial casinos and pari-mutuel racing. No Vermont source we read says whether an online casino or tribal gaming exists, so this plan cannot tell you that nothing else needs its own request. Fantasy sports is legal here and sits entirely outside this list. For fantasy, the Department tells you to go to each licensed operator's own site or chat, and it names none of them, so this plan has no single place to send that request. A lifetime selection here has no removal path at all: the Department says plainly you will not be able to remove yourself. Enrollment needs a Vermonter Login account, a selfie, a photo ID, your Social Security number and an official identification number. The application sits behind that login and its exact fields were not read. No processing time and no confirmation notice after enrollment are described. Nonprofit raffles, lotteries and capped casino events are legal in Vermont and no exclusion mechanism tied to them was found. | ||||||||
Gambling types in Vermont
One self-exclusion list rarely blocks every kind of gambling. Here is what we found for each type of gambling in this state.
| Gambling type | What we found | Sources |
|---|---|---|
| land-based commercial casinos | No program foundWhat we checked: Vermont's statewide gambling statutes (13 V.S.A. ch.51 as modified by 31 V.S.A. §1306) prohibit casino-style play in a gaming house and slot-type machines, with exemptions only for the state's sports wagering, fantasy sports and nonprofit games under §2143. Nothing here speaks to tribal land.WhyRead 2026-10-01. 13 V.S.A. §2133: "A person who plays at cards, dice, tables, or other game for money or other valuable in a common gaming or gambling house that is maintained for lucre and gain, shall be fined not more than $200.00 or imprisoned not more than 60 days, or both." §2135(a)(2) bars anyone from leasing, selling or offering for sale "a coin or slot machine, pinball machine, racing machines, or other device of like character, wherein there enters any element of chance", and §2136 punishes possessing or placing one in "a place of public resort". 31 V.S.A. §1306 then exempts only "sports wagering or a fantasy sports contest conducted pursuant to this chapter" from chapter 51. The one other carve-out inside the chapter is §2143 for nonprofit lotteries, raffles and capped "casino events", which is its own category below. No Vermont statute read authorizes or licenses a commercial casino. This is a finding about the statewide statutes only: tribal land is a separate category and stays unknown. | 2 sources

| racing / pari-mutuel | No program foundWhat we checked: Vermont's statewide statutes prohibit holding or simulcasting pari-mutuel racing and offering or accepting wagers on animal races. This does not speak to what an out-of-state operator does.WhyRead 2026-10-01. 13 V.S.A. §2153: "A person shall not hold, conduct, operate, or simulcast a pari-mutuel dog race or pari-mutuel horse race for public exhibition." §2151(a)(6) separately bars anyone from laying, making, offering or accepting "any wager upon such result or contest of skill, speed, or power of endurance of human or beast". §2155 sets a fine of up to $5,000.00 or up to two years in prison. The only exemption in 31 V.S.A. §1306 is for sports wagering and fantasy sports. This does not address how an out-of-state advance-deposit wagering company treats a Vermont customer, and no Vermont program covers it. | 1 source

How we checked
These are the kinds of gambling we checked. The list may not include every way to gamble in the state.
Vermont's legal gambling is narrow, and so is its self-exclusion program. State law exempts only sports wagering and fantasy sports contests from the general gambling ban. It bars commercial casino gambling and pari-mutuel racing, and the sportsbook authority is a mobile-only platform. We found nothing saying whether an online casino or tribal gaming exists in Vermont. The statewide self-exclusion program covers mobile sports wagering and works online through a live SimpliGov portal (a Vermonter Login sign-in chooser, which we confirmed loads). You need a selfie, a photo ID, your Social Security number and an official identification number. Terms are 1, 3 or 5 years with automatic removal at the end of the term, or lifetime, and no removal is ever described for lifetime. Fantasy sports sits outside that list. Each licensed fantasy company must let a player irrevocably restrict themself through the company's own website or chat, and the Department's page sends you to 'the individual fantasy sports licensees' instead of the statewide list. We haven't surveyed the licensees or their processes, so we can't point you to a place to send that request yet. Vermont's tribes are recognized by the state, not the federal government, according to the state's Commission on Native American Affairs. No official source addresses tribal gaming or a federal compact either way, so we don't know whether Vermont has a tribal casino. Nonprofit raffles, lotteries and capped 'casino events' are legal, and we found no self-exclusion for them. We checked the official sources linked on this page, not every way to gamble in the state.
How Vermont's programs fit together
Vermont's statewide list covers mobile sports wagering only, and fantasy sports exclusion is a separate request you make with each fantasy operator.
Other programs we know about, with no details yet:
- Vermont Fantasy Sports Contest Operator Self-Restriction (per-licensee): fantasy sports contests, reached only through each individually licensed operator's own website or online chat — no state route, no licensee names confirmed, and this plan holds no single place to send a request yet We have no record of its requirements yet.
What we know about each one
Vermont's statewide list and its per-operator fantasy sports restriction are separate. Every operational page describes fantasy sports as its own opt-in with each licensed fantasy company, so to be excluded from both you have to use both routes. We don't have a single place to send the fantasy request yet. Signing up for both still doesn't cover every way to gamble in the state.
